KELP~ I am amazed at how incredibly large the Pacific Coast Kelp is! On a trip to Seattle, Washington I got a first hand look, it had washed  up on the shore  and was laying  lifeless on the rocks! I was eager to see this lump of stuff come to life in the water so we went to the aquarium. It was so mesmerizing to watch and I was inspired to capture its flow in paint!

KELP WOMEN~ Was created when studding artists and their painting styles in class. We were able to use Botticelli's "Venus" as a collage element since the painting is now old enough that copyright laws are no longer an issue. The flow of Venus' hair reminded me of my painting, "Kelp" so I followed a similar painting path.

SANCTUARY~ This painting was created for the Members and Friends Art Show at the Community Church of Chapel Hill in the spring of 2010. The  addition of oil pastels brought a fun glowing vibrance to this piece.
