IRIS~ COMMISION
This graphite drawing was
created on the request of my mother, Joyce Allen, a writer living in North Carolina. She commissioned me to create drawings to symbolize the main characters for her book,
Hanna's House.

PAINTED TRILLIUM~ NFS
On a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway in June of 2003, my husband and I hiked in the
Pisgah National Forest. Flowers were blooming everywhere, including many different kinds of Trillium, one of my personal favorite species. I was very excited to see that the Painted Trillium were still in bloom in some of the higher elevations!

As it turns out, a black and white vertion of this painting was the perfect representation of  another character in  my mother's novel.
