I am a watercolor / mixed media artist. My
inspiration comes from all aspects of nature and object that catch my eye. For my subject material, I work from photographs
I have taken, and 'en plein air' (a French expression which means "in the open air"). Even though books
and art magazines are full of inspiration, most of the credit has to go to my art teacher, Luna Lee Ray. She has been a wonder,
influencing in my art and sparking new ideas and challenges! I consider myself lucky to have grown up in Chapel
Hill and Efland, NC~ to have lived in environments where the outdoors and art were part of my everyday life. Through
my painting I express who I am by combining these two life-long loves and creating my fascination of nature through visual
art.
As long as I can remember,
I have dabbled in one form of art or another. I always envisioned that my art would stay three-dimensional as it did in my
youth, at which point I found handling and molding my work very enjoyable. Even though I sill like to manipulate material
with my hands, I was surprised to find that using watercolor or mixed media a fulfilling challenge and an inspiring change! | |
